Tawheed Development Foundation Donates Food and Offers Spiritual Support to Inmates at Sekondi Prisons in Commemoration of Eidul-Adha

As part of its commitment to community welfare and inclusive outreach, the Tawheed Development Foundation (TDF) embarked on a humanitarian and spiritual visit to the Sekondi Central Prisons to mark Eidul-Adha. The visit, led by the Foundation’s Founder and Board Chairman, Hajj Saeed Hamid Jallo, was primarily to present food donations to the inmates as a gesture of compassion and solidarity during the festive season.

The engagement was not only about physical nourishment but also a time of spiritual upliftment and emotional connection. The TDF delegation included respected Islamic leaders and volunteers, among them Imam Adil Yunus, Flight Lieutenant Ibrahim Mohammed (Imam of the Air Force Mosque), and Mustapha Mohammed Adam, who joined the Chairman in addressing the inmates.

Upon arrival, the team was profoundly moved by the sound of Qur’anic recitation echoing through the prison walls, offered by one of the inmates. It was a poignant reminder of faith’s endurance even under confinement. The emotional tone deepened when Chairman Hajj Saeed Hamid Jallo encountered a familiar young Muslim inmate whose presence in prison served as a stark reminder of the challenges facing the youth and the urgent need for intervention and support.

The Foundation’s team engaged inmates—both Muslim and non-Muslim—in a session filled with hope, reflection, and calls for repentance and rehabilitation. The inmates listened intently to the spiritual messages, and by their expressions and feedback, it was evident that the visit had left a lasting impression. Female members of the delegation were visibly touched, some moved to tears by the emotional weight of the moment.

During the interactive session, inmates expressed their appreciation and humbly made requests to enhance their religious practice and comfort within the facility. These included:

  • Rebuilding the prison masjid
  • Providing a mobile public address (PA) system for prayers
  • Supplying chairs for khutbah delivery
  • Ablution kettles and prayer mats (sajada)
  • Ceiling fans and repainting of the masjid
  • Regular spiritual and motivational visits

Tawheed Development Foundation assured the inmates of its commitment to respond to these needs with urgency and care, and emphasized the importance of faith, discipline, and hope even in difficult circumstances.

One of the most touching moments was the introduction of a man who has spent 33 years in incarceration. His story evoked deep reflection and served as a sobering reminder of the importance of rehabilitation, justice, and reintegration.

This visit was prompted by a formal request from the Muslim inmates themselves—a request that rekindled TDF’s resolve to maintain consistent engagement with incarcerated Muslims and to ensure no member of the ummah is forgotten.

“And whoever relieves the hardship of a believer in this world, Allah will relieve his hardship on the Day of Resurrection.”
— Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), Sahih Muslim 2699

TDF extends gratitude to all who contributed to the success of this visit and calls on the wider community to support initiatives aimed at restoring hope and dignity to our incarcerated brothers and sisters.
